Kindergarten preparation

When children start kindergarten, a lot is suddenly expected of them. At home, they were always allowed to say everything that was on their mind. Suddenly, they are only allowed to speak when they have permission to do so. They are expected to sit still for long periods of time and to spend a certain amount of time doing crafts that have a goal.

This is a real challenge and requires some practice.

We support children who are about to start kindergarten by teaching them, through targeted games, to meet these requirements and to understand the rules in a playful way.

Teacher

Language development

“The children learn Swiss German with us, which can be very valuable for foreign-language children when starting out in the school system"

Getting dry

"Diapers are the easiest way and becoming dry can be a big challenge. We wean in a playful way."

Road traffic

“Many children have a street on their way to kindergarten, we get to know the street in the daycare center. Safety through familiarity.”

Pre-kindergarten education

As the transition from nursery to kindergarten is a significant step in your child's life, we want to educate you on the essential skills and knowledge that will help your child make this transition. It is important that children are prepared both socially and emotionally to feel comfortable and safe in their new environment. Here are some key areas we focus on:

1. Promote independence

In kindergarten, children are expected to be able to perform certain basic skills independently, such as putting on and taking off their jackets and shoes, tidying up their playground and washing their hands without constant supervision.

2. Basic social skills

The ability to interact with peers is crucial. This includes sharing toys, switching activities without causing a fuss, waiting your turn, and expressing your needs and feelings in an appropriate way.

3. Emotional maturity

Children should learn to understand their feelings and express them appropriately. This includes dealing with frustration or disappointment and seeking help from an adult when needed.

4. Simple academic skills

Although the focus in kindergarten is not exclusively on academics, it is helpful for children to know some basics, such as counting, recognizing colors, shapes, and possibly the alphabet.

5. Follow routines

Children should be accustomed to following a daily routine, including set meal times, rest times and specific times for educational activities. This will help them to adapt to the structured environment of kindergarten.

6. Listen and follow instructions

The ability to listen to and follow instructions from adults is very important in kindergarten. This includes simple safety rules and guidance from teachers.

7. Curiosity and willingness to learn

Encourage a positive attitude toward learning and school in general. Children who are curious and show a willingness to learn adapt more easily to school demands.

8. Toilet independence

It is important that children in kindergarten are able to use the toilet independently. This includes everything from relieving themselves to washing their hands properly.

Support at home

You can support your child by creating a loving, structured environment at home that builds confidence and encourages independence. Read with your child regularly, play educational games, and encourage them to try new things on their own.

This transition is an exciting step for your child. With your support and the preparations at the daycare, we are confident that your child will have a successful start to kindergarten. Please do not hesitate to contact us with any further questions or concerns.

In the last months before the Kinzig, individual cross-group activities are carried out in age-separated groups.
